Derek, CFO, smiling outdoors in a green jacket

Meet Derek, the CFO who reviews your work.

Derek, CFO

Derek has nearly three decades in accounting and finance. He began as a staff accountant, advanced to controller, and went on to serve as CFO, COO and CEO of startup, growth-stage and enterprise companies. Today he is a fractional CFO and controller for privately held businesses and the families who own them. He reviews our catch-up, cleanup and assessment work before it reaches you, so your books can be relied on by you, your tax preparer, and anyone else who asks to see them.

  • What the review checks

Accounts agree to your statements, every correction traces back to the underlying transaction, and anything unusual is explained in plain language.

  • Why it matters to you

Books that hold up when a lender, buyer or tax preparer relies on them, and no surprises when someone looks closely.

  • Books first, strategy second

Derek holds one working principle: strategic financial leadership is only as reliable as the accounting foundation beneath it. Engagements begin with remediation of the general ledger and financial reporting, so the books can support decisions by lenders, investors and tax professionals.

  • Experience

Derek has led finance for a real estate development firm with a portfolio of several hundred legal entities, built and led a company from inception through years of rapid growth, and installed GAAP-compliant reporting for domestic businesses and IFRS-compliant reporting for international ones. He has served privately held businesses as their fractional CFO and controller since 2022.

Lender reporting and monthly borrowing base certificates. Multi-entity and intercompany accounting. Buy-side and sell-side M&A due diligence.
